1 pack of 6 regular Hershey bars
2 cups sugar
1 cup butter (room temperature)
4 large eggs
1/2 tsp soda
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup Buttermilk
2 1/2 cups cake flour
1 16 oz Hershey's Syrup* (comes in a bag)
*original recipe called for a can, I cannot find this anymore
Melt 1 Hershey bar in double boiler or microwave. Cream 1 cup butter & 2 cups sugar. Add 4 eggs, 1 at a time, beating well after each. Stir 1/2 tsp. soda into 1 cup buttermilk. Add buttermilk & 2 1/2 cups cake flour alternately to creamed mixture. Add melted chocolate, chocolate syrup and 1 tsp vanilla. Turn into greased and floured tube pan (do not use a bundt pan) Bake at 350* for 70 minutes or until tester inserted comes out clean. Let cake cool. Melt 5 Hersey bars in double boiler and pour over cake. May sprinkle with powdered sugar or gold hearts!
This cake is better on Day 3 if it...
1 lemon, sliced
1 orange, sliced
3 tablespoons (dark) brown sugar
1 (1.5 oz ) jigger vodka (vanilla)
1 (1.5 oz ) jigger cointreau
(1.5 oz) Grand Marnier (or a little more) 1 bottle of dry red wine, chilled
(I like Villa Appalaccia Toscanello)
1 C ice cubes before serving
1/4 C orange soda 1/4 C sprite
3/4 C pineapple juice 3/4 C orange juice 1 (1.5 oz) jigger gin
Place the lemon, orange & brown sugar in a large pitcher. Pour in vodka, cointreau, gin, grand marnier, orange soda, sprite, pineapple juice & orange juice. Add fruit, ice cubes & red wine, stir well until sugar has dissolved.
Serve at your next party! I promise it will be a hit! P.S. The fruit is so yummy, eat at your own risk if it has been soaking!

Corn Pudding
2 cups corn (I use Green Giant canned white)
3/4 C milk
1 C sugar
1 stick unsalted butter, melted
3 eggs
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 Tbsp plain flour
With mixer, beat eggs, add sugar, flour, butter, milk, add corn. Put in greased casserole. Bake for 1 hour at 350 degrees*. Stir after 20 mins. If it doesn't brown, turn up the heat.
*You can double if necessary
This recipe has been in my family for many years. My mom and Aunt Brenda make it a lot better than I do -- they are professionals!
Enjoy!

Perk up your iced coffee and spring with these 5-layer mocha cubes
3 cups black coffee, cold
3 cups half & half or I use Sweet Italian Creamer
1/2 cup chocolate milk
I love iced coffee in the afterno...

1 stick butter
1/2 c. onion (grated)
2 lb bag Ore-Ida Diced frozen Hash Brown Potatoes, thawed
1 can cream chicken soup (I use the one with herbs)
1 cup half & half
1 cup grated sharp cheese & extra for the top
4-5 cups water
Toppings: bacon, cheese, chives
Sauté onion in butter until translucent, add other ingredients ( I use 4 cups of water) & simmer for about 30 mins on low heat, (try not to stir too much it breaks down the potatoes) add salt & pepper (I use white pepper) to taste. Serve and top with toppings or just crackers ~ it is yummy.
This is my Aunt Hazel's Potato Soup. She was the Queen of Entertaining and making everybody feel welcome & loved. I sure do miss her.
